KENYA 7s DARWIN, WELLINGTON & LAS VEGAS TEAM NAMED
The Kenya Airways national seven-a-side rugby team to play in the third and fourth leg of the International Rugby Board Series 2010 has been named.
The team to play in the weekend of 5th - 6th & 13th - 14th February 2010 was named this morning by the National Coach Benjamin Ayimba at the Rugby Football Union East Africa (RFUEA) Ground.
The team will leave on January 18, 2010 to compete at the Darwin, Australia event on its way to the IRB Series in Wellington, New Zealand and Las Vegas, Nevada.
“The National sevens team has been an inspiration during the last 12 months where we have been one of the form sides during the IRB series and also featured in the World Cup semi-finals. The team participated strongly at both the Dubai and South Africa series matches,” Ayimba said. The team has grown from strength to strength and is now considered the team to beat in the annual International Rugby Board Sevens Circuit, he added.
At the NZI Sevens in New Zealand, Kenya will play in Group C alongside Tonga, United States and England.
Similarly, the USA Sevens will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada. As the fourth round in the grand prix-style calendar, the USA Sevens continues to expand its fan base both at the event and through record national broadcast ratings in the States.
