SEVENS CIRCUIT DEDICATED TO THE LATE LEEROY OKARA

Late Leeroy OkaraMwamba Rugby Football Club dedicate our participation in this year’s National Sevens Circuit to the memory of the late Leeroy Okara.

Leeroy Okara succumbed to a short battle with meningitis on the evening of 13th November 2009 at Nairobi Hospital.

A friend to all, the soft-spoken 23-year old Leeroy has been a staunch supporter of the Mwamba club for many years, and decided to start playing this season, where he was always ready and willing to learn. We learnt of his illness just before we departed for the Hima ten-a-side tournament in Kampala, Uganda. Throughout that tour, Leeroy was constantly in our prayers and we played the entire tournament with white bands across our arms as a symbol of our love for him.

Leeroy will be buried this Saturday in Butere. Mwamba players and officials will attend the burial and in this respect, the club will not be participating in this weekend’s Christie Sevens tournament.

Rest in peace Leeroy. You were a brave soldier.
